    “I’m afraid your surprise may last longer.”老安德鲁说，“Gruvited him not just for a seminar， but also for a two-year program that is funded by Cook ty to develop a Class B biosolids disposal approach.” （译：我恐怕你的惊讶还会持续更长的时间。Gruca邀请他来不止是为了一次讲座，而是让他参与一个由Cook县政府资助的两年项目，开发B类生物固体的处理技术。）

    “You kidding？！” （译：你开玩笑吧？）

    “Why would I？”老头反问道，“Don‘t you know he has a patent of biosolids treatment tower teology？Lee is a smart guy and very good at moving idea to patent.”（译：为啥我要拿这个开玩笑？你不知道他有一项生物固体处理塔技术的专利吗？他是个很聪明的人，并且擅长把研究转化为专利技术。）

    “……so he will be w here as a visiting researcher in the wo years？”陶郁难以置信地再次瞟了台上一眼。 （译：所以这两年他要在这做访问学者？）

    “You know very soon I’m going to retire.” 老头解释说，“The department has been looking for a new professor for a while. Lee is a good didate. He  teach my classes and he is a mature researcher. The two-year program will be a transitioning stage to fully prepare him from a visitor to a full-time professor.” （译：你知道我快退休了，系里在找一个新教授。陈立是个不错的候选人，他可以教我的课，本人也是个成熟的研究者。那个两年的项目将是一个身份转换阶段，让他从一个访问者成为这里的全职教授。）

    “As a tenure？” （译：作为终身教授？）

    “Well， a full-time doesn‘t necessarily mean tenure， but I think our department will eventually hire him as a tenure.” （译：全职并不一定意味着终身，但我想系里最终会聘他为终身教授。）
